Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the answers you are looking for…

What are your hours?

Normal visit hours are between 6:30a-10p. If you want a visit outside those hours we can accommodate, with an additional fee. Office hours are Monday-Friday 9a-4p.

There are lots of options, why should I pick you?
There are lots of options, and some of them are really great options! As a professional pet care specialist that means that this business is my full time baby, so you can count on me for the long haul. It also means that I am insured and bonded, pet CPR and First Aid Certified and all employees are as well. Speaking of employees, who are all background checked at the state and federal level, unlike solo care takers you never have to worry about an illness, car accident or my own vacation stopping your animals being cared for. There are always at least 2 people familiar with your pets and your home. Plan B and Plan C are very important when living creatures, your family members, are in the care of Barks and Recreation.
I have animals not listed, or a whole pack worth of animals, can you help?
Absolutely! We care for everything from hamsters to horses, which includes hedgehogs, chickens, snakes, and whatever other pet you have. If you have a house full that is also no problem, you might just require a longer visit to ensure we can get to everyone.
My dog doesn’t like new people / is nervous and shy with new people / can be aggressive.
Not a problem! We will come up with the best and safest way to introduce me to your dog. My own dog needs to be introduced to people in a specific way to ensure she is comfortable, so I get it. If needed, we can schedule multiple visits at your home until your dog sees me as a friend.
I have a semi-feral or feral cat
I do a lot of fostering of feral mama’s and her babies, I am very familiar with how and how not to interact with feral cats. You tell me what type of interaction they are accustomed to and we will mimic that.
What happens when its too hot, raining, or snowing?
It really depends on how extreme the weather is and the size and age (and tolerance) of your dog. If we can’t be outside long then we will play games or just hangout inside. They might learn a new trick, play a little tug or other inside game or they might want to just lay on the floor for belly rubs. This is something we can make a plan for together.
Are you insured and bonded?
Of course! All employees of Barks and Rec are covered, everyone is also pet CPR and First Aid certified.
Do you offer care on weekends and holidays?
Sure do. Most holidays do incur an additional fee of $5-10 a visit. Everything is first come, first served so get your requests in!
How much advance notice do you need to schedule a service?
All visits are approved on a first come, first served basis so get your requests in as soon as you can. Two or more weeks is ideal for scheduling purposes, but you can book up to a year out.

If you request a visit with less than 24 hours notice you may incur an additional fee, we will always do our best to accommodate your request.

If you know you have a trip booked during a holiday, especially Christmas, New Years and anything in the summer months the sooner you book the better!

How will I be billed?
All invoices are within your client portal. You can pay online or we accept check or cash.
